Sapporo day tickets: subway, Donichika and streetcar#

A subway day ticket does not cover streetcars or buses. Even around Sapporo Station, Odori and Susukino, subway and streetcar are different systems. Identify the nearest useful stop and operator first.

Donichika uses Japanese holidays, not those of your home country. Buy a subway paper ticket at the station, insert it at the gate and collect it for the next ride.

The regular subway day ticket is not sold at station machines on weekends, Japanese holidays or Dec 29–Jan 3. This sales restriction does not make its validity weekday-only; check Donichika or staffed-counter guidance on those dates. Buy Donichika at station machines or station offices on eligible dates. These paper tickets require cash; IC balance, points and credit cards cannot replace payment.

Using Sapporo bus passes and mobile tickets#

Chuo Bus, JR Hokkaido Bus (JHB) and Jotetsu are separate operators. The company operating your actual departure must match the pass, even at a shared stop. Chuo's city pass uses its designated special-fare area; JHB's pass uses mapped local routes and excludes services such as Highway Otaru.

  1. Choose the stops, then check the operator on the Chuo product and area page or JHB product and map.
  2. JHB has separate Web and paper prices: adult ¥1,000 versus ¥1,200. Check the use date at purchase.
  3. Take a boarding number ticket where issued and present it with your pass at exit. Have a phone ticket ready; an unavailable screen can require a separate ordinary fare.
  4. For streetcar mobile tickets, use the designated official seller, activate just before first use and show the valid screen when alighting.

Jozankei day-bath packages bundle transport and admission. Select the facility, date and bus on Jotetsu's official package page, pay online and prepare the travel-day QUICKTRIP ticket. Check each plan's exclusions and reservation deadline. Do not count the entire bath bundle as transport-only savings.

Chuo Bus Sapporo City 1DAY costs adult ¥900 / child ¥450. JHB Web costs adult/child ¥1,000 / ¥500, compared with paper ¥1,200 / ¥600.

For an actual section, compare JHB En15/En16 from Maruyama Koen Station to Maruyama Zoo West Gate in the calculator: adult ¥240 / child ¥120 one-way. This does not include another operator or zoo admission.

Dosanko bundles and a subway cost example#

The streetcar Dosanko Pass is a ¥460 bundle. On eligible days, one ticket covers up to one adult and two children travelling together, or three children alone; one adult alone is also allowed. It is different from subway Donichika.

Illustrative input: On a Japanese Saturday, one adult takes three subway rides in the ¥210 fare bracket, such as Sapporo–Odori. The total is ¥630, which is ¥110 above the ¥520 Donichika price. Donichika is cheaper for these inputs. On an ordinary weekday, compare individual fares with the regular day ticket instead.

Do not confuse the Hokkaido Rail Pass's specified JHB bus benefit with a city pass. The Sapporo–Noboribetsu and Sapporo–Furano area passes do not include JHB buses.
