JAPAN PASS VALIDITY

Pass validity calendar: when does your pass start and end?

Consecutive JR days, hour-based subway tickets and selected-day bus passes use different clocks. Choose the product rules before entering the start date and time.

Calculate validity

Calculations follow the selected rules. Confirm they match the product’s official rules.

Enter the start date to see the final valid date and expiry time.

Three common validity mistakes

  1. A consecutive 7-day pass is not a 168-hour pass. Starting on December 28 makes January 3 day seven. Starting in the evening still uses the first date.
  2. A 24-hour ticket needs the actual activation time. A 10:30 start expires at 10:30 the next day. Check whether activation means a button, first gate or purchase.
  3. For a 03:00 service-day product such as SUNQ, 02:59 can belong to the previous use-day. Digital selected-day and paper consecutive-day products also differ.

Operators may have separate rules for gates, arrival or continuing a train after expiry. This tool does not validate the operational legality of an entire journey.
