Choose SUNQ area and paper or digital use days#
SUNQ is for participating buses and selected ferries, not JR trains. Fukuoka–Yufuin, Beppu, Oita and Hita are explicitly covered by Northern and All Kyushu products. Subway, JR trains and Nishitetsu rail are separate.
Northern three-day prices are ¥10,000 digital and ¥12,000 paper. Digital lets you select three days within five days from first use; paper uses three consecutive days. The ¥15,000 All Kyushu digital four-day ticket allows four days within seven.
For example, bus travel on days one, three and five fits three selectable days, whereas a consecutive three-day paper ticket does not reach day five. A use day is 03:00–02:59 Japan time, based on boarding time. Digital purchase and activation differ; check the actual seller's activation deadline.
Do not apply an invented price to a Northern four-day or an unverified one/two-day offer. Plan the real bus dates and routes first.
For Kumamoto, SUNQ’s official table lists Fukuoka–Kumamoto and Fukuoka Airport–Kumamoto under Northern and All Kyushu. Match the actual departure stop and service with official operator guidance. If the section has no calculator fare preset, check the operator’s current fare before entering a custom amount; this guide does not establish a new fare preset or reserve a seat.

SUNQ to Yufuin, Beppu and Hita: reservation and boarding#
Buying SUNQ does not reserve a bus seat. Yufuin, Beppu and Oita services require reservations; Hita-go is first come, first served. A pass does not guarantee space on a full bus.
| Regular one-way section | Adult / child | Origins and reservation |
|---|---|---|
| Fukuoka–Yufuin | ¥3,250 / ¥1,630 | Tenjin, Hakata, Airport International; reserve |
| Fukuoka–Beppu Kitahama | ¥3,250 / ¥1,630 | Tenjin, Hakata, Airport International; reserve |
| Fukuoka–Oita | ¥3,500 / ¥1,750 | Tenjin, Hakata, Airport International; reserve |
| Fukuoka–Hita Bus Terminal | ¥1,980 / ¥990 | Tenjin, Hakata, Airport Domestic; no reservation |
- Check the exact route and Northern/All Kyushu eligibility on SUNQ's official route table.
- For reserved services, follow the official booking instructions. Tell a phone or counter agent you will use SUNQ.
- Before departure, present your pass and booking name/phone details at the counter to collect the seat-confirmation ticket.
- Activate a digital day on the travel date and show the live pass plus seat ticket when boarding a reserved bus. On Hita-go and other nonreserved services, take a numbered ticket where provided and show the pass at exit.
SUNQ has no discounted child pass: a child buying the general pass pays the same price. Individual child fares may be cheaper. Digital and paper use-day rules differ; do not apply an invented price to a Northern four-day or an unverified one/two-day variant.

Does SUNQ save money on a Yufuin return alone?#
Illustrative input B: One adult takes only a regular-fare Fukuoka–Yufuin return, costing ¥6,500. This is ¥3,500 below the ¥10,000 Northern SUNQ digital three-day pass. Add real bus journeys on the other use days before deciding, then check seat reservations.
These examples use ordinary published fares and exclude discounts, hotel access and any assurance of a seat. Different dates, routes and sales channels can change the result.

SUNQ airport and Dazaifu checks#
The operator confirms SUNQ on Tenjin–Airport International Airport Express, International–Hakata Station Chikushi Exit and Hakata/International–Dazaifu Tabito. Tabito does not allow an Airport–Hakata-only journey, so it cannot substitute for that local airport bus.
The airport subway station is by the Domestic Terminal and is outside SUNQ. Check Domestic for Hita-go, and International for the main Yufuin, Beppu and Oita highway services. Match the stop and time in the reservation with the actual platform.
See airport and Dazaifu fares and city-pass differences. A subway-focused city itinerary needs a different comparison from SUNQ.
Once your bus sections and dates are set, compare individual fares with SUNQ in the pass calculator. Check selectable or consecutive days and early-morning use in the pass validity calendar, then arrange seat reservations separately.
